May 8, 2010  High winds, Muddy Water , and Almost No Tide gave me good reason to postpone my trip for today, but not good enough reason for me to stay home! The 3rd cast of the day and a large trout jumps 2 feet in the air next to my cork with a Gulp Swimming Mullet attached and he was attached to the Gulp. A nice fight for a few minutes and a  4 pound (25″ Beauty) was in the net! Then as I headed down the ship channel. I could not believe my eyes a huge flock of  birds was working the washout area, and not a boat in sight. I think they were all hiding from the wind. I got well upwind and drifted in range and It Was On!!!! 22 casts and 22 fish in a row. I kept these few nice ones for a pic and dinner. Then the wind went into high gear about 8 am and the bite quit! The next 3 hours was lots of casts and one nice Flounder for my effort. Still a Fun morning on Lake Calcasieu. Always nice to face the elements and come out a winner!!!

May 6, 2010 Robert R. and wife Jackie and fishing buddy Howard visit Lake Calcasieu. We started out down south with live shrimp and Caught about 30 reds but only 9 made the cut. It was fun getting doubles and triples but most were 15 & 1/2 inches long . After some traveling and trying Howard got his New Penny Gulp working and put a nice Flounder and Red in the box. Jackie definitly caught the most( with an assist from Captain Tom!) but a great time was had by all!!!

May 5, 2010 Scott T &Friends Make 3rd Spring Outing to Lake Calcasiueu !!! They were up to the challange of wind and Muddy Water to catch some nice Big Lake Beauties. We had several Slams (Trout, Redfish, & Flounder), Scott caught his first Flounder ever and ended with 3 nice flatfish. Live bait helped a bit , but the shrimp were pretty small and Gulp put most of the fish in the cooler. We covered a lot of water but managed a few at each stop thanks to these guys skillfull casting!!!! Great Job Guys!

May 1st,2010 Harry H. and sons Robert, and Scott braved the winds and weather on Lake Calcasieu and catch a few Good Ones!!! Some Nice 2 to 3# Flounder and reds where the reward for our hard work in 30 MPH wind and whitecaps. These guys wanted no part of rescheduling and showed great fishing ability to put 10 nice Big Lake Beauties in the cooler inspight of tropical storm force winds and dirty water. Gulp showed it’s worth and made their catch possible. Great Job Guys!!!!!

May 2, 2010 Oil Spill Stays East of Lake Calcasieu for Now!!! Fishing is still open and our area is currently not threatened by the spill. Please continue to monitor this site for reports if anything changes. We now have live shrimp available and the shrimp and fish moved in on the very high tides we have had the last few days and once the wind slows fishing should be very good.
