Despite 20+MPH winds and muddy conditions Louis, friend Robert and son John made the trip over from Houston and found some nice Reds Trout & Flounder willing to bite Berkley Gulp on a 1/4 oz jighead(Natural worked best). Louis did his best to get a rise on a shedog Topwater but with no Luck, but John and Robert used gulp to put some nice fish in the cooler.

Wind , Mud, and Low water, set the stage for a challenging day for this crew from Houston, But they gave ‘m hell and kicked their buts with Gulp and live pogies. Candice was assistant Captian and learned the Gulp plop and put most of the fish in the cooler, Dan was doing the Gulp Drag the bottom and the flounder loved it. With the exception of the windburn it was a great day on Lake Calcasieu.

The wind howled, the water was muddy and low but with guidance from the captain and hard work on their part we still managed a few Texas Slams(Trout,Reds, and Flounder). Gulp under a cork and live pogies were the baits of choice. As soon as the winds calm the fishing will turn on strong. These guys booked a return trip to be in on the action. Thanks, Captain Tom

April 7,2008 Started Slow for John L from Houston, his son Zack, and friend Cody but the 3rd spot was the start of a great day. Zack caught a 20″ Trout near 3# for Big Fish of the Day. And again Gulp under a cork outfished live Pogies to put most of the trout in the cooler. Cody stuck with Gulp shrimp(3″ New Penny) on a 1/4 oz jig to catch some nice Flounder and Redfish. While John Ploped his arms off and caught a lot of Trout on Curleytail gulp under a Cajun Thunder.

On Sunday April 6 2008 Stanley H. and his longtime fishing buddy Dan come over from Lafayette to for a day of Big Lake spring Trout Action. It was a little slow to start with early morning fog but the day turned out to be great weather and mild winds. It made the pogies easy to spot and after a little work with the cast net and a baitwell full of live pogies the cooler was soon full of nice2 to 3# trout and Flounder.
